Typhoon window checklist

Ten minutes checking your windows before a typhoon can prevent accidents.

Before the typhoon

  1. Close every window and lock the latches.

  2. Check hinges and rivets for looseness or rust.

  3. Remove flowerpots and loose items from sills and balconies.

  4. Draw the curtains to reduce flying glass if a pane breaks.

After the typhoon

  1. Check whether any sash is loose, bent or won't close.

  2. If anything is damaged, keep that sash shut and have a member firm inspect it promptly.
