Window repairs in public rental housing

Public rental flats belong to the Housing Authority. If a window has a problem, contact your estate office first.

Contact the estate office first

Public rental flats are Housing Authority property. The Authority repairs normal wear and tear of fixtures in the flat, except window and door glass. Report window problems to your estate office rather than hiring a contractor to remove or replace windows yourself.

Tenant-to-pay items

Some repairs are "tenant-to-pay" items, such as supplying and fitting window or door glass, or replacing window handles or hinges. Charges are set by the Housing Department and reviewed annually; ask your estate office for details.

Everyday safety

  1. Check hinges and latches regularly for looseness or rust, and report problems promptly.

  2. Close and latch every window before a typhoon.

  3. If you live in a private or HOS flat, you can find a member firm in the directory.
